Wooden Boat Show & Summer Solstice Festival This Weekend

14 Jun

Summer is finally here, and since we know you’re just itching to get up north, and put paddle in water, why not join up with hundreds of like-minded paddlers on the shores of Lake Superior this weekend? Every year, paddlers and artisans, woodworkers and adventurers, gather at the picturesque North House Folk School in Grand Marais to enjoy workshops, be inspired by the stories of boat builders, sailors and travelers, and plan the next big adventure. Its family-friendly and open to the public. One of the annual highlights is the ‘Boats to Tools Auction’ to benefit the school — see a couple rare canoe beauties below that are up for sale this year. Where else can you see how a wooden boat is made, learn how to sail a canoe, and then get on the water for a game of paddling polo? So grab your paddle, load up your canoe, and journey North!
