Wildfire growing in the BWCAW

31 Aug

A wildfire has been burning in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, and since its first observation on Aug 18, it has grown to about 130 acres.

Kris Reichenbach, spokeswoman for the Superior National Forest told the Duluth News Tribune:

“It sat and smoldered for more than a week and then, last Friday, it grew from a half-acre to about 130 acres in one day,” …  “Nothing is closed, no entry points are closed, but we have safety crews trying to talk with people in the area to make sure they know about it.” – Duluth News Tribune
