Shell Va’a is outrigger canoe racing’s answer to the New York Yankees.

The Tahiti-based team is collecting canoeing titles the way the Yankees used to gather World Series trophies. Shell Va’a needed a superior final leg to clinch this year’s title. A full story on the event — and a great photo — can be found HERE.

Earlier in the season, Shell Va’a won its third consecutive Moloka’i Hoe title, completing the 41-mile race between the Hawaiian islands of Moloka’i to Waikiki in 4 hours, 38 minutes, 35 seconds.

The full story on that event can be found HERE.
