MN State Shutdown affects paddlers, park visitors

Paddlers planning a visit to a MN State Park this July are being turned away at the gate, as all park services are suspended during the government shutdown.

The MN DNR web site says that public water launches are open for day use, but they strongly recommend against visiting – either on foot or by boat, as all facilities, restrooms, emergency services etc. are closed. Read more HERE >

Fishing licenses and canoe (boat) registrations are not available during the shutdown — meaning that if you did not purchase a fishing license before July 1, or if you’re bringing a canoe in from out of state, you’re out of luck. (Canoeists should plan on renting a canoe from a trusty local outfitter).
