Hearing for BWCA Terrror Suspect Postponed

Northern Minnesota’s Mesabi Daily News reports, HERE, that a contested omnibus hearing for Boundary Waters Canoe Area terror suspect Barney James Lakner, originally scheduled for this week, has been postponed until April 11.

Lakner and five others were charged with 79 counts of terroristic threats, harassment, theft, and other charges in an alleged late-night camper-harassment incident on Basswood Lake on August 7, 2007.

Three suspects in the case have pleaded guilty to reduced charges and will be sentenced on May 5, the story reports. Another suspect, Jay Andrew Olson, will stand trial on May 13. The case against a minor allegedly involved in the incident is on-going.
