A Far North Symposium Sneak Peek

18 Mar

Can’t wait for next Saturday’s Far North Symposium sponsored by the Minnesota Canoe Association?

Well, you’re in luck today. Canoeing.com, a co-sponsor of the annual gathering of paddlers passionate about the wild waterways of Canada, recently published a trip log by symposium presenter Duane Lee. The trip log, HERE, reports on the same adventure Lee will describe next weekend.

Last summer, Lee canoed from Cross Lake (east of Wabowden, Manitoba) to York Factory on Hudson’s Bay, following the route Hudson’s Bay Company traders called the “Middle Track” — the route connecting the interior to the bay using the Hayes River. Lee paddled on the Bigstone, Fox, and Hayes Rivers during his trip.

Lee’s trip log features photos, logistical information, and a recap of his travels.

Find more information on the Far North Symposium HERE — including an online registration form. The symposium kicks off at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28 at Metropolitan State University in St. Paul.
