Snow Kayaking?
29 Nov
If you live in a Northern clime, and the pending arrival of a thing called snow has relegated your canoe, kayak or stand up paddle board to the garage you might want to check out a little thing called snow kayaking.
While snow kayakers use kayaks and paddles, it makes some whitewater kayaking look tame by comparison–this is defintiely a “helmet required” kind of sport.
(If the video doesn’t play, you can also watch it HERE.)
While we’re not sure this qualifies as a family friendly sport, the Mother Nature Network has named snow kayaking one of the 12 most wacky winter sports and there is such a thing as the Snow Kayak World Championships. Hosted by Red Bull, of course.

Looks like a dangerous activity in a closed kayak, maybe a sit on top or a surf ski would work better!
I have totally done this in an inflatable kayak… it was ideal as it had an open deck and you are fairly protected if you crash. It was seriously awesome!
