With the descent of winter just around the corner, it might seem a little early (or late, depending on how you look at) to talk about canoeing in the St. Croix River Basin in Wisconsin. But the 2013 Paddle Namekagon is looking for participants for a canoeing and kayaking adventure next summer.

The week-long adventure, which starts May 18 and runs through May 24, starts in Cable, WI and explores 92 miles of the Namekagon–all the way to its confluence with the St. Croix River.

According to an announcement in the Star Tribune, the St. Croix River Association will haul overnight gear, provide a shuttle from Danbury, WI to the start of the paddle, and provide cooking gear.
