250 Year old Birchbark Canoe Found

An historic Canadian canoe, possibly the oldest canoe known to exist, was recently found in a shed in Great Britain.  Thought to be built in the 18th century, it may have been brought to England by a soldier during the American Revolution, and has been stored by the family ever since. Canoes of that period were held together with tree root lashings, according to Jeremy Ward, curator of the Canadian Canoe Museum in Peterborough – and rarely last over 150 years — making this a rare boat indeed.
